-caz- Well following my Berlin saga due to work, I've entered Dublin during my time off in October. An extra 4 weeks to train and get fit & lose some weight.

Marathon completed - Just outside my real target of 5hr, nowhere near PB times but physically more than happy with outcome. Challenging course with a few undulations, amazing support where there were crowds. Unaffiliated 4:14:55 5:04:21 4:45:00 5:04:21 39.99

Debbie G 3rd ever marathon after an extremely hot FLM & Prague earlier this year so hoping to PB in cooler conditions.

UPDATE !!! What a brilliant race :-) so happy to get under the magical 4 hour mark - great weather & support around the course helped me knock 25 minutes off my last marathon time.

Good to meet up with lots of Fetchies in Kennedy's Bar - well done to all who took part and many thanks to the 70 (!!!) who placed bets on me - glad I could win you all some points :-)

As I've paid for flights & hotel etc. I am going to try & get round with a mixture of jogging & walking.
Update :- 24/10/07.
Managed to do 6 very slow miles last night. I would love to keep under 5 hours.Hence the predicted time.
Update.

johnny-the-eagle Hoped to break 4 hours - ran the first half 10 mins ahead of schedule and just kept going. PB by 33 mins! (only 2nd marathon though). Nice gently undulating course with no really difficult sections. Very friendly and supportive natives. Nevertheless found the last 6 miles incredibly hard and slowed slightly - would have been so easy to walk but over the moon that I didn't. Already looking forward to my next marathon.

PQ 1st time for me too so anything could happen !
Wow what an amazing race ! I had hoped for 4:20 but just missed out as struggled a bit from mile 18 and the pace dropped off quite a bit. The first half took more out of me than i wanted as I found the wind very tough in parts. The crowds were truly amazing with their support and encouragement and they made it very special. When I got to the last mile I found some strength from somewhere and picked up the pace again and managed a sprint finish on the home strait....makes me wonder if I should have been tougher on myself and worked harder in those last 8 miles !! Will do better next time but happy enough with my first attempt. San Domenico RC 4:26:42 4:26:42 4:30:00 4:26:42 50.56

SueW seriosly thinking of entering this after my disappointing run at Moray. Ran 21 miles at Moray - decent long run - and walked the rest!
Bitten the bullet and entered! Just run 1:48:18 at Aviemore so fingers crossed!

Update : I had a great race and knocked 58 seconds off my pb set at Dumfries last year. I managed a fairly steady pace but slowed in the last 3 miles. The crowds were fantastic - really supportive. I put my name on my running vest. You'd have thought I had the most massive family support in Ireland. It really gee'd me up especially when I was tiring. I'm so glad I didn't look to see if anyone had bet on me! Thank you to those who did. Carnegie Harriers 3:56:27 3:56:27 4:00:00 3:56:27 60.31

thomas h got on then too optomistic 2.50 pace and kept it to 16 then blew up , tried to drop back to 2.55 target but the last
few miles were not the best , and had to sprint the last 200 to make sure i did not fade over the 3 hours ! finished in 236 place with a time of 2.59.38 not a PB and not the best way to run a marathon . no such thing as a sure bet!
