So... I FINALLY took the new bike out. It was AMAZING.
It felt really good and looked awesome:-)
My legs still hurt from the marathon last week and there were some issues because part of Centennial Park was closed off for a concert, so there were more turns and it was slower than it should have been.
Also, I realise it has been a while since I have been on the bike! It is hard work. I need to get used to the new tri configuration. The way the saddle and the handlebars are set up, there is 50% of my weight on my "sit bones" and 50% on my elbows/arms. Apparently on a normal set up it is 1/3 on each of those plus the other 1/3 basically on your balls!
So, the point of the tri bike is entirely on the tri bars (hence why the gears are there). It is amazing, but I need to get on the turbo trainer and get used to it again. Very excited by the training lined up over the next 6 months:-)
Anyway, the garmin still won't import... but here are the splits:
1 7:33.1 3.8km
2 6:10.1 3.1km
3 5:24.0 3.1km
4 6:03.3 3.1km
5 5:41.3 3.1km
6 6:08.3 3.1km
7 5:42.0 3.1km
8 5:40.8 3.1km
9 5:49.7 3.1km
10 6:54.0 3.1km
11 6:37.6 3.1km
12 5:51.1 3.1km
13 5:47.5 3.1km
14 5:46.3 3.1km
15 5:47.4 3.1km
16 5:49.5 3.1km
17 5:48.3 3.1km
18 5:43.4 3.1km
19 5:30.3 3.1km
20 5:38.5 3.1km
21 5:29.6 3.1km
There were a couple of relaxing laps with Chantelle (who was going slower) and a couple where I pushed myself. Overall average speed was 31.6kph and I could have kept it up for a couple more hours I think and hopefully in a race there would be less braking and turning... bring on some races!!!

19.75mph is amazing in anyone's language. My poor balls with their 1/3rd weight distribution. Have you got a new pointy helmet to go with your sexy new machine?
Entering a whole new world of speed here me thinks? Did you actually have to pedal the thing, or does it just go!?!?
If I had known I was that close to 20mph I might have tried a bit harder! This was definitely a slow start for me in terms of what I will be capable of by the time I get to Melbourne- the turbo trainer starts tomorrow:-) Unfortunately it doesn't ride itself Luke... I couldn't afford that one! Also, I have no pointy helmet... I am not prepared to move intot hat league until (and if) I was ever fast enough!
I think you need to invest in a horn to warn all those slow cars you are coming through!
