Working away near Brighton has meant lots of my recent runs have been on or around the South Downs Way. Bintmcskint commented that she hadn't really explored the various bits either side of the main trail - so this route is in her honour. Starting from the Newmarket Inn near Lewes (or Housedean Farm, just up the road) the route climbs up on the SDW, before branching off to take in Newmarket Bottom, Falmer Bottom, Standean Bottom, Balsdean Bottom and Stump Bottom - then joining the SDW at Jugg's Road and back to the pub. If bottoms are your thing, the route could easily be extended south to take in Long Bottom, Home Bottom, Whiteway Bottom and the wonderfully named Breaky Bottom.
