The Friends of Mick'n'Phil Half Marathon

8th March 2009, Draycote Water

Help Fetcheveryone to raise money for Mick'n' Phil - Marathon Lads.

Mick and Phil have inspired hundreds of runners with their own grit and determination to overcome the odds, to enjoy the pure pleasure they both get from running and racing. The father-and-son team, who live near Stratford-upon-Avon, in Warwickshire, have taken part in more than 300 races since 2002, including 31 marathons and 173 half-marathons. What makes them so inspirational to so many is that 50-year-old Mick pushes Phil's wheelchair along every mile - and achieves fantastic finish times in the process. Phil, who has cerebral palsy and sodium valproate syndrome, is most content when on the move and the joy of both is evident to anyone who has ever run alongside them. But the cost of travelling the country to compete in events most weekends could put a stop to their inspirational performance, which both father and son benefit from.

We want 1,000 people to take part in this half marathon to help keep Mick'n'Phil running - as well as volunteers to ensure it runs smoothly.

Volunteers are also needed to help runners get to the start, marshal the race, man water stations and hand out medals as they cross the finish line. Anyone interested in volunteering at the Friends of Mick n' Phil Half Marathon can contact us by mailing micknphilhalf@hotmail.co.uk.

Easy. Easy. Easy.
