Thanks Tiggia. I'm just bracing myself for the journey home really....tube and train without air conditioning... *sobs* Just trying to give myself a bit more time to walk about so I don't have to rush anywhere.

I had quite a nice lunch break though, sat in a deckchair in the shade and there was a nice breeze, it was very pleasant :-)

Hendo might get banished to the spare room tonight so I can spread out on the bed, lol.

Good news all round BC. Is your preference a home birth then?

Yeah, I think I'd rather avoid hospital if I can. The only doubt in my mind is that as it's my first I have no idea what I'm going to think/feel but as I'm only a stones throw from the hospital anyway I thought I'd plan for home and than transfer if I panic.

I haven't spoken to anyone who has had a baby recently (i.e. within the last 10 years) who doesn't recommend staying at home for it unless there's a medical reason not to and I'd much rather be in my own home than in a hospital.

We shall see in a couple of months :-) :-O

BC everyone I know who has had a home birth has had a wonderful experience. I planned one for baby M but sadly, it's not on the cards this time. Are you getting a pool? I'm hoping to use the birthing pool at the hospital if I can avoid being induced. I would like the experience to be as non medical as possible. Weirdly, I had a really positive birth experience with baby M and I hope I get that again.

My own personal experience of hospital birth was very positive - with my second I was in and out the same day, it felt to me like the best of both worlds - all the medical care available if necessary and no mess at home, and then still getting to sleep in my own bed at night.

Like vickster I had positive experiences too. A few issues with the hospital being too busy the first time but overall very happy. I couldn't have home births due to pre eclampsia anyway.

Then again, those I know who have had home births have been very positive about them.
It's about you feeling comfortable and in control.

(But if you could have the midwife who helped me deliver Evelyn you'd be completely happy whether at home or at hospital...)

I will be getting a pool and I have a gym ball already. I think I need to buy a load of dark towels and plastic sheeting and I'm ready to go :-) (if it comes more or less on time then it's correct to say that will be next month!)

I did my first hypnobirthing class yesterday. I really enjoyed it, it all seemed to make perfect sense and I came away feeling a lot more confident about a home birth, and that's just after 1 lesson.

Also it was held in the ladies home and she had a friendly cat and gave us all a magnum ice cream.

I think I hit a record for the most pitying looks ever received yesterday. I was actually alright in the heat and glad to be at work with the air conditioning. I got the strangest looks in the supermarket yesterday too - I went out and bought ice creams for the whole office as a treat so my shopping basket was about 70 ice creams and a bottle of gaviscon!

Lol at shopping basket!
Buy a couple of homebase value plastic shower curtains, sturdy and cheap 😀
There's a lot less mess than you think. Homebirth midwives seem to clean as they go!

Looking forward to hearing about the hypnobirthing BC.

All is well this end. Attended my 24 week consultant clinic yesterday and they have booked me in for scans every four weeks for the rest of my pregnancy. Very reassuring...

hope all you preggy ladies are doing well. does anyone on here have an opinion on Mirena? I am really keen as have had a lot of good feedback from friends but equally it's inside the body and I dislike the idea for that reason....
