I had hoped to stick with it and try to gently persuade him into getting help but didn't get chance to broach the subject as he flew into one of his regular rages and that was the final thing for me. It's really not his fault he's the way he is and no-one should have to go through the trauma he's been through but he doesn't have insight into how he is/doesn't want to have insight; so I had to leave to avoid the toxic situation. It was a tough decision and it's been a tough ride too but with some amazing times along the way. Shame; but there you go.

Some of those experiences help us grow ourselves and and we can learn valuable lessons from. Others weigh us down and colour how we see the world and respond to our new experiences. I guess it makes finding someone who can have an overall positive impact in your life all the harder.

He has a rare condition which is text book and the prognosis is not great, even if he chose to get help. New interventions are researched all the time tho', so the future may hold better things for him. I really hope so. He has alienated a lot of people but the blame is passed on to them. I now know that he can't help it but also that people have had to distance themselves for their own good. I'm wondering now if his family have tried to help him, although I can see similar traits with another family member. The dynamics of the family are very complicated and this can only have made it worse.
