This website classifies run-walk as a type of run, so I reckon a marathon with walk breaks counts as having run a marathon. At least so long as it was more than 50% running. *wonders whether that should be 50% by time or 50% by distance* *decides to stop wondering and go to bed* |

I'm with dio. 2011, London, my bucket list only ever marathon, target under 5 hours, fail. 2012, Edinburgh to beat 5 hours, success. Happy? No, for the very reason that I walked. This is why I know I have another marathon in me one day and the target will be sub 4, and no walking.

As far as I'm concerned, I ran all of the races I have ever done even though I might have walked a bit or a lot. This includes my road marathon PB even though there were a couple of points where I had to walk. It has never crossed my mind that I didn't run it and I'd be a bit miffed if someone told me I hadn't. |

I'm with Bint, it seems a bit self-flagellating to beat yourself up over some walking Morning, I'm off to play on the bouncy floor this morning, then going to uni. |

I disagree with Dio too. My first marathon, I walked loads as I was injured and I used to joke that I had "completed" a marathon but couldn't say I ran it. My third, I walked twice, very briefly, to drink water and I definitely think I ran it. (I walked maybe 4 or 5 short times on Mara #2, also mainly for walking but probably a hill or too as well; and probably 4 times in Rome, 2 of which to drink.) They were short breaks and if you add up all the extra bits you run in a marathon, over 42.2k (because of bends, crowds and them building in extra distance just in case, I kid you not! though evidently not in the Brighton half), then I definitely RAN more than 42.2k those days. Oh, and warm up jogging too. I should really say I'm an ultra runner |

[feet even worse; trying not to take ceritizine now so I can take Atarax after I've been to the hospital with little-tri-boy. Using some steroid cream. Might go see a doctor this afternoon]
