I don't think anyone said he doesn't do the work TBF. He's chosen a presentation style that will appeal to some and not others. I presume he's aiming at the American market so it's not surprising he wants to go for strong takes sometimes. If you look at some of the stuff on US sports, a lot of it is based on having strong takes and debating others with opposing views and rarely conceding the point (see First Take and Undisputed for examples).

SPR, yeah, I know no one said he didn’t work. I was just surprised at all those notes as in my view he makes it look easy, I suppose with some clever editing as well. But often things that appear easy are not, I guess.

I think he knows his stuff and would probably have a different presentation style if he was in a different arena (eg as an analyst on live coverage of a race).

I think he was an analyst for Peacock last year or year before, but he wasn’t renewed for whatever reason. In yesterday’s video, he was calling the current US presenter (Christian Vande Velde) a knucklehead He often calls out Brian Smith as well. I think it’s just the style that he’s used to. My personal opinion, based on nothing official, is that he is rubbish at pronouncing the European names, and I wonder if that held him back on live TV. |
