I was thinking about this yesterday. With a 31 miler, if you're say a 3-30 to 5-00 marathon runner you'll probably be a bit slower and might walk through the check-points. A 50 miler is tactically different. You won't run your marathon pace; you'll probably walk at least some of the hills; foot and drink will be a lot more serious considerations than a couple of gels; chaffing and blisters get serious too. Great fun

Arrive early and do the 50km as a warm up and then do the 50 miles. You'll be nicely loosened up and you'll win :D But seriously....... I'd also say go for the 50 miles for all of the reasons above. |
