Cutting down on sugar is probably a good thing.

The phrase "it worked for me" is generally the last resort of believers in homeopathy, astrology, dowsing, chiropractic etc etc. Before the time of proving things with evidence this was how the world worked. I am off to slap on a few leeches now to fix my calf for this afternoon's cross country.

Is that the same mechanism that said the world should stop eating fat to get slim?

Slightly flippant post, but evidence based diets/what's best for the world clearly hasn't worked was my point.

You need to try things for yourself and don't blindly follow government advice, lobbied for on behalf of grain and sugar industries.

Too Much Water
I was thinking about this today. I wouldn't invite anyone doing this out for Afternoon Tea!

Hi milemonster, or anyone else who has a view on sugar - has anyone got a link to evidence between sugar and inflammation, preferably specific to sport or running in particular?

Veggie, non-drinker, no weight problem and medium fitness level (c. 30 miles running per week plus bits of strength and cross train), 51 yr old male.

I actually have lowest level of injuries for years at mo. But always a few aches and pains.

I eat a lot of sweets, biscuits, cakes etc (my only vice!) Could it cause great aches and pains or worse cause serious inflammation related injuries.

By the way, the correct answer would be No! ;-) But I'm open to evidence, even if I don't like it.

Thanks :-) G
