I liked Torrie HM, but it is one where the route wanders about (the only fixed rule being that it must never, ever cross into Benalmadena).

The first two years I ran it went right up the back of town, through the woods for a bit. The woods! There's something very few tourists see. And only had about 5 km on the front. The third time had a lap of the centre to start and about 7km on the front, but less woods.

Abingdon marathon - two laps of an industrial estate, Fleetwood is dull too.

there might be a fetch point mid way though at Abingdon if I can work it in somehow though and *thats* quite exciting :-)

I have no fond memories of Luton marathon. It was very wet the year I relayed it though and I think it’s no longer in existence
