The solution is easy, either have the runners/wheelchait things at different places in the race, say 500m apart or on opposite sides of the road.

The Beeb would have plenty of time for coverage if they did less celeb gurning/bulid up/ Bendan "Paula Radcliffe" Foster gibbering on, and more (shock horror) showing the action.

I visited my local to watch the Boat Race on the TV,. How the hell can they manage to have two and a half hours covergae of a race that takes less than 20 minutes. Build up should take 5 mins max (Heres the course here are the crews) and wind down a similar amount of time (Here's Oxford? trying to drown an American dwarf who hitched a ride in the boat).

I digress.

I watched the end of the Men's race and thought the ex-athletes added nothing particularly useful, but it would all be odd without commentators...

Dont mind the commentating, its all the fluff that comes with it. Commentators and presenters are supposed to enhance the viewers experience not become the viewers experience.

Seems pretty simple send the Elite Wheelchair athletes off before the Elite runners. Or within a time that means it is unlikely they are reaching a water station together. In this incident I think the female runner was at fault cutting across the line but Cassidy stated this has been raised previously with officials. Perhaps now an incident has occurred they may change the timings next year to prevent it.

The elite women are racing hard and can't be expected to look around all the time. That crash could have easily cause some nasty injuries. If they really must run the races simultaneously I would have thought wheelchair athletes could avoid drinks stations - why not just carry a bottle on board like a cyclist?

My main gripe with the bbc is complete lack of coverage of GB athletes. Mo aside I think only Susan Partridge was featured. Why not devote 10 minutes to covering the top 100 or so club athletes - it is after all the UK marathon championships.

The bbc has no idea what a club runner is; if you're not a professional elite, you're a fun runner. :-(

Yeap , I think one year Steve Way ran 2.19 and was called a fun runner.

So, Tiki Gelana has collided with Josh Cassidy. Would it not have been sensible to release the wheel...
