500 Miles in 2013

Think I`m going to have to concede this year 53 mile short of last years total of 404, and I`m now struggling with a very sore left hip and have not run now for nearly a week :-(

Plodder - sorry to hear that. But as I said earlier it's just a number so no point worrying about it. At least you have done 351 miles further than the lazy arses sat at home watching tv :)

Thanks Mel, been doing some foot exercises (stretching on step, rolling jar under foot etc) and ibuprofen gel etc and it's feeling a bit better so let's hope it's only a strain. Going to take the whole week off (still will leave enough time for my remaining target mileage) and a rest week probably won't do my race prep too much harm (10 miler on Jan 5th). Fingers crossed! Hope everyone else's injuries are clearing up for Christmas!

NP Strut :) I have been stretching my calf as often as possible. The soreness has pretty much gone away but it still feels 'tight' and catches me when I am walking to and fro in the office (usually for another cuppa!).

Just to prove to myself I'm not as young and fit as I used to be (in case I hadn't realised). Over the weekend I was helping my son out - putting together a pine king-size bed frame; shifting furniture around; lifting my toolbox in and out of car. Today my back is complaining - I mostly notice it when I have been sat at my desk and stand up to get a drink. Grrrr ..

Poor old fella! ;)

Hi everyone, 2013 finished for me as I am waiting for a MRI scan on the R knee.
All is not lost as I can still walk and run ( trot ), but not very far.
Have a brilliant and careful Crimbo and a Sparkling 2014.

Possum - sorry to hear about needing MRI scan on knee.

I'm still grounded due to calf problem and now lower back giving me gyp after moving some furniture last weekend.
I'll be back here on the equivalent thread next year. Though with the training I am going to need to do for my C2C walk in July (from Apr-Jun) I'll be hard-pressed to match this year's running mileage.

Heel issue seems to have cleared up thank goodness (so probably was a strain rather than PF) but then woken up at 4am this morning with the most painful cramp in my calf I've ever experienced! An hour later and the other one went into spasm too! Could hardly stand up straight and had to get Mrs.Strut to massage some ibuprofen gel into them to even get me moving, goodness knows what was happening. A couple of hours of hobbling about and they finally eased off enough to go for a gentle mile and a half. Felt ok on the run but have seized up a bit now, all very odd.

Merry Christmas to all you fellow 500-ers from me too, I've only got 10 miles to go so determined to get there by hook or by crook and will deffo be back on this thread next year too! (as long as GG starts it up of course!).
