EB, I think the 800 is aimed at folks who have a little more to lose than the 500 that a not really overweight Molesly (or whatever his name is) was thinking of. Also, part of his reason for 500 cals was the supposed health benefits of fasting. Having their 800 on consecutive days, might make a difference ???

If you are being sensible on the days in between I would stick to 800 and see how you get on

Had a quick skim through my book. It is 500 for woman or 600 for a man. If you are losing on 800 you could go with that until you stopped losing and then gradually reduce it down. I found the book really interesting to read (asda's price is about half rrp).
Keep at it Early Bird.

500 calories here despite being a man, because it doesn't hurt me and doesn't fuck off my wife who has to stick to 500.

Well Ive tried MFP and find it hard to stick too week after week , I'm also finding it impossible to loose weight whilst marathon training but I'm going to give this a go. Will try my first fast day tomorrow which is a rest day , then probably weds as my next fast day which is a steady short run day , ( can't fast on my only other rest day as we go to my parents for tea ) do most of you guys just drink or do you go for low calorie foods for example I could have porridge for breakfast , soup for tea with lots of bovril and water in between which should be about the 500 calories ?

I usually stick with black coffee until the evening then eat something light and carb free.

Fruit for lunch, soup for tea. Cups of tea with a splash of milk make up the 600 cals I'm allowed

Nothing until 1pm & then lettuce, tomato & cucumber (no dressing, just S&P plus vinegar). Same in the evening but with a boiled egg.

Bovril & coffee gets me through the day with the occasional handful of grapes or watermelon slice.

If I feel I'm going to 'crack' I'll get the kit on & do a 30 minute run. (Maybe doesn't kill the hunger but gets me away from the friidge :-) )

Anyone want to try it with me?

Info - m.bbc.co.uk

5 days of 'normal' eating and 2 days eating 600 calories (men), 500 calories (women).

Fast days are best not done on consecutive days, unless you have amazing willpower.
