You fast on a Saturday??? :-O Wow. You must have a will of steel. I did a 10-miler this morning though, which is roughly the same calorie deficit I reckon.

I stopped doing 5:2 in January, after the regime had taken me down from 105kg to 84kg. Since then, I've pretty much 'flat-lined' at 84-85kgs.

Back doing one semi-restricted day a week from this week, both to show solidarity to my wife and to just lose a tiny bit more.

I'm so glad that I stuck with 5:2 through 2013. I now wear "M" tops instead of "XL". I also slip into 34" trousers, instead of 38" ones with 'elasticated' waistbands. As to my running, I'm loving it.

Keep the faith.

It's all gone quiet on here - has everyone starved to death? :-O

I've decided to give this a go - not for weight-loss purposes but for general health and wellbeing. I have to be honest and say I've been dreading today, my first 'fast' day, and can't see how I can get through lunch time with nothing at all! Might take some bouillon into work with me in case I get desperate - any good advice for a newbie?

Miso soup is good :-) I quite enjoyed this during September but I think I must have overcompensated on the other 5 days, only lost 1lb :-O Keep toying with the idea of going back to it. Good luck Schnecke, let us know how you get on.

Other tips: drink lots of water, if you feel hungry clean your teeth, um, that's all I can think of.

I have been doing this for a good 6 months now. I actually enjoy the 2 days I cut down to 500 calories.

I went down to 75kgs but was also counting calories net of exercise on the other days (1750 calories). I have since then relaxed it quite a bit and I seem to be holding at 77-78 kgs which is fine for the autumn and winter.

I still find evenings the worst times when I am on a normal day. I stuff my face with carbs.

Lost a stone before I stopped doing this. Managed to keep it off since so while not 100% happy with my weight it's a lot better than it was. I've moved from doing 2 fast days to not eating after my evening meal until the following lunchtime. It's about a 17 hour fast twice a week. This seems sufficient to sustain my weight at current levels without the need to calorie count or watch what I eat.

Good luck Schnecke - I was terrified on the first fast. Convinced I would faint at some point. I didn't. You can do it , it's only one day :-)

I'm still going but maintaining now. I'm still having to fast twice a week though because I eat shed loads the rest of the time :)

Thanks for the comments, everyone. I survived the day at work, now trying not to think about eating until after my Pilates class tonight!

5 days of 'normal' eating and 2 days eating 600 calories (men), 500 calories (women).
