Great news D2, hopefully something to gradually build on now!

Charlie reached another milestone today - his first Cone of Shame :-( Back at the vet's to check out an infected paw. Makes a change from looking at his ears I suppose! We're not sure what has caused the infection but he's had an injection for something or other and has been sent home with antibiotics and instructions to wash his paw with antiseptic every day for the next week. He's feeling very sorry for himself. Or embarrassed, I'm not sure which. I'm getting the cold shoulder.

Poor Charlie. I hope his paw soon gets better.

Good news from Indi D2 - onwards and upwards hopefully. If those teeth are sharp now they are not going to get any less sharp I fear......

Another thought D2 - are you able to stop at the bottom of the road, park up and get out for a little walk around or some interesting sniffs for him (I can't remember if he has had all his jabs yet to go out?) So that he gets used to 'going somewhere nice' in the car rather than out and coming home again.

We are very fortunate that our vet is within walking distance as otherwise car travel with Wanda would have been much more difficult....but it still took a long time to get her really happy to be in the car - I remember after we passed our bronze test saying to the instructor that I thought the car element could be the downfall on the silver... fortunately she had got used to the car by then.

Charlie seems totally miserable with his lot in life at the moment. I tried taking the cone off but he immediately started eating his paw. I guess it feels odd anyway as it's been shaved, as well as the usual itchy/pain or whatever due to the infection.

I've your best interests at heart, Charlie Boy! (Wish he could understand :-( )

That's good progress D2.

Poor Charlie - must be miserable having to wear those cones. Better than chewing his poor paw though.

We are just itching for this week to be over (and not just because it's the summer holidays). QP keeps asking 'how long 'til Friday now?'. We head to my folks on Friday afternoon, pick pup up Sat morning and straight back up the road. I do hope Ernie likes the car better than Indi as we have a 3 hour drive home. I think he will be on QP's lap for journey. Conflicting advice on that one too.

Wanda had a 2+ hour journey home from Battersea and sat on J's lap on the back seat all the way home - it seemed the least stressful way for her as she shook for the entire time and occasionally tried to get out of the windows. Writing that really makes me realise just was a frightened little soul she was when we got her...... she's much more confident now :-)

We will have a crate if need be (assuming my sister remembered to get it out of the shed and give it to my folks) but I think he might need some reassurance and QP will be desperate to give him cuddles.

BaronessBL I've just looked at your pics of Wanda and it is hard to believe she was once a quivering wee puppy :)

I was on my own when I collected Charlie. He was in a crate on the passenger seat. He slept the whole 3 hours home! Good luck on Saturday HP, I can't wait for more photos :-)
