Derby Tup
Tuss and I met a 12 week old cocker spaniel pup called Harvey. It was amusing seeing the wee lad jumping up and wanting to play but Tuss acting cool as if to say what's going on

We do scent cloth work at our class sometimes. I practise at home with a mass of cardboard boxes all over the living room floor and Wanda has to find the cloth. She doesn't mind sticking her head in things so she is happy to hunt through the boxes for it. She is less good at then bringing it to me though - she'll find it, take it out and then just put it down on the floor!

I think Flossie might enjoy that. I'll have a go sometime.

Does anyone here have any experience of these?
britishdog.net

I met a lady this morning who was using one on a Jack Russell X that previous had not been able to be off the lead and he was being very well behaved but she also mentioned being a huge fan of Cesar Milan... about whom I know opinion is very divided.. so I was interested to hear what others think of this, especially if you've tried it?

One of the dogs at Copse Hill (when we were in the Bronze class? Silver? not sure) had one - I think it was a puff of air rather than a spray of anything - because she was constantly chasing flying birds. IIRC the dog hated it and it simply made her even more loopy. They had a series of 1 to 1 sessions instead and now she's much better, without the spray thing.

Flossie has a lame back leg again :-(. This came about after a massive flinger/ball session out in the field the other day. Rest seems to restore full mobility, and she gives no indication of pain, and nowhere is hot to the touch. I think she's got a weakness there, which I hope isn't going to turn into anything worse. I don't think it's worth a visit to the vets yet though. What do others think?

Eb has similar LD, if she overdoes it in some way she becomes lame. I took her to the vet who said its a bit of arthritis, if it gets bad there are painkillers etc. I took her just for my peace of mind after it had happened a couple of times. Hope Flossie is ok soon.

Sorry to hear about Flossie. If it was Wanda I wouldn't take her to the vets just yet but if it got more frequent or recovery was taking longer I would.

I know someone who uses the spray collar to control a mad spaniel. The jury is out imo because they haven't trained the dog...

Agility tonight and Jet has 'nearly' worked out the weave... He's spent the last few sessions stopping part-way through, trying to work it out. :-)
