Lovely dog portrait blog. A great mix of pedigrees and real "streetdog characters". Look out for the Giant Schnauzers ;-)

Just back from class. Wanda was 'out of sorts' today. None of us could really explain what it was, she grumbled at the other dogs from time to time and wasn't really concentrating on the work.

She did eat *quite a lot* of a sprout stalk (without the sprouts) before we went that was waiting to go in the composter - although judging by the mess I found I think it's more accurate to say she chewed up most of the sprout stalk and shredded it rather than ate it. I don't think sprouts are harmful for dogs but I'm somewhat concerned if sprouts have the same effect on dogs as they do on humans :-o sprout

Sometimes we just don't know what makes a dog in or out of sorts do we? I do hope Wanda isn't *too* 'sprouty'.

I was too late to give Jet his dinner before agility class tonight, so he was hungry and he ran like a rocket - as full of bounce as he had been sluggish two weeks ago after he'd scavenged the fish batter.

Quote from my blog-a-dog,
"Tonights blog is brought courtesy of the dog agility class. That's right. The dog dog are the ones being agile. Apparently it takes about three months to train a dog, and about a year to train an owner to beginner level.

Tonights 'quote of the night' came out of my mouth, mid-way round a set of obstacles, "Where's my dog?" (he was running at my heel in best 'obedience class' mode!).

Second was the threat from the trainer, "We're going to start fining you if you keep telling your dog to slow down and wait for you."

Ho hum, best get some running training in."

Jet sounds like he's doing really well on the agility... although maybe running hungry isn't so good if it makes him super-fast at the moment!!!!

No ill-effects from the sprout stick.. Wanda became more relaxed and settled as the afternoon/evening went on so I'm still not quite sure what it was that had seemingly caused her stress earlier....

Urine test came back slightly dilute but normal. Honey is a 10yo Springer bitch. We've had her 3 years from a rescue centre. She's been rescued twice (when she was a year old - tied up and left outside house, and when 7yo - in house where there was domestic abuse, when couple split she went with lady who was unable to give her time. When we got her she was overweight and with matted fur). Last few months she's lost her long fur in patches on her back, and has gained a few lumps and bumps. Vet thinks it's just age (with lumps being fat lumps), but wanted to do a few tests to confirm. So far all tests have come back OK, so think we'll just monitor - don't want to be unnecessarily invasive.

Good news then Thornton, that's good.

I don't know why we didn't cut out the middle man and just get a fox pup instead of a Labrador. Legs in the air and much joyful wriggling on foulness this morning :-( Managed not only to cover her neck and ear but also got plenty of poo in the moulded plastic clip on her collar. I did not insist she walked to heel on our way home, I couldn't stand the smell!
