I've got a cleaver and I'm used to taking chickens apart. You're right about the smell. Does Jess get the whole thing, (raw) bones and all?

Talking of chickens, the healthy springers (who were pursuing a squirrel as the owner and I chatted) got all the vicar's chickens at a local vicarage :( Bad dogs. It's happened a few times elsewhere too. Bloke had to pay compensation. Quite rightly too IMHO.

Oh and the chap also mentioned black pudding. That makes sense as it's raw blood with a bit of fat, isn't it?

Absolutely the whole thing RS. That's the beauty of it. It's only COOKED chicken bones that are dangerous for dogs - as they are so much more brittle.

I find it strangely satisfying to hear and see Jess use her teeth and jaws exactly as evolution intended.

Yeah I know that about the chicken bones. I've always given dogs I've owned raw big bones to gnaw on. Some people boil their bones before giving them to dogs. I tried to tell a friend that she didn't need to boil her dog's bones but she wasn't having any of it.

This weekend we took Oboe down to the IL's where she got to meet their tow dogs and she is now best friends with Polly the retriever, so much so she was happy to spend the night in where they slept in the shed - hasten to add that the IL's dogs are 'farm dogs.' She did however chew the skirting board a bit whilst we were out, but no destruction on the previous scale. We also took her for some long walks and introduced her to the beach - she even had a paddle at Westward Ho!.

In addition to this we have bought an Adaptil plug-in, so we'll see how we get on - perhaps it works on human too - we can but wish!

Cav, I'd be very interested to see how you do with the Adaptil ;-)

Hark the heleg-angels sing
I'm a little sceptical about devices such as Adaptil, so will be interested to see whether the long walks or the plug-in have the greatest beneficial effect ;-).
