Thanks folks - I really appreciate your input.

To answer your question, Sharkie, I don't remember a lunge, although it all happened so fast. I think it was just the bite. Puncture wound was only small and in one area. All that's left is bruising in various shades, so puncture was v slight + some tiny scratches. I'm not sure what a GSD would nip like, but it did have my whole hand in its mouth up to the wrist.

I'm hoping it's because the dog is still young and not yet aware of its strength. As a couple of my friends have said and I tend to agree, it's better that it happened now, prior to going it alone with my business. I won't necessarily try to make friends with dogs now unless they approach me showing friendly signs.

Hope all goes swimmingly with Jess and the new teacher.

We have french doors leading onto a patio, with a low wall around it. The doors are permanently marked at dog-nose-height because Jet finds the activities of the local wildlife ojn the other side of the glass endlessly fascinating.

One of the local squirrels has just been sitting on the wall looking at Jet, and Jet has been sitting on his side of the glass shuffling hibs bottom backwards and forwards, wriggling and growling amd whining in anticipation of an encounter that he's quite safe from experiencing.

When the squirrel moved on Jet bounced around in triumph. Happy dog :-)

Keyver won a rosette today at the rescue dog show. 3rd place in the best rescue dog category - commended for remaining calm in the presence of a lot of distractions - people and dogs. Her owner and her trainer are both delighted. I'll leave this pic of her at agility last week up for a few days.

She's gorgeous Helegant. I can see why your daughter wanted to save her! And how great that she's now really turned the corner. All power to everyone involved.

Is she better mannered with Jet yet?

I've deliberately kept Jet away for a while as Keyver starts her training. Planning to re-introduce them in a week or so by walking them both together as a pack before trying indoors again.
