I used to look after the World's best dog, Dave (RIP). He was a mellow but assertive personality and not a lap dog at all. One day I took him for a walk with a friend's dog who he'd met plenty of times - she drove. After about 2 mins of being in the back with an excited JR, he'd had enough and crawled through the handbrake space into my lap where he stayed for the duration of the journey. He really had no time for impatient companions in a confined space! Once he got to the field he would go bonkers like most dogs, but believed there was a time and a place for everything and cars are for snoozing. :)

Ok, he sounds like a character RS - but I think you will find at least six other candidates for the World's Best Dog on this thread alone. Which is as it should be.

Ever since I met him Raffo's family have gone on and on about Bonnie the Dog, the collie cross rescue that could do no wrong. On Raffo's mum last visit (the broken arm one) she regaled us yet again with how 'you never needed to raise your voice to Bonnie, she never warranted a cross word.' Ah, the Sainted Bonnie as I have taken to calling her.

The situation with your daughter's dog no easier then Helegant? Poor Jet, it probably does unsettle him. Is this the same daughter that 'was' his favourite person? He will begin to dislike visiting her if things don't improve. Shame.

We use a lot of hand and body signals with Jess too.

Yes I thought I would face stiff competition. However, I'm not the only one who gave him that title. He was much-loved by those who met him. Adults indifferent to dogs would melt at the first meeting, nervous children would race up to him, other dogs held him in respectful regard, armies put down their weapons ...

Yeah, yeah, yeah.

The Sainted Bonnie was like that too.

Never met her myself.

My dog is a delinquent.
I kinda like that. *Chews gum and hums 'The Leader of the Pack'*

He had his cheeky side too, oh yes. Expert at the emotional manipulation of humans. His tummy had a lovely, comforting smell to it. Amazing swimmer. *Sheds a bittersweet tear*

All dogs are contenders for the title. Some may not make it through the quarter finals though :-)

Er, what breed or Heinz 57 was the legendary Dave, RS.

Stands back having possibly lit touch paper.

Small enough to fit on a lap obv. Or you'd be in trouble in the front of that car.

Actually I wouldn't be keen on Jess trying to squeeze herself through the hand brake space.

Carnage ahoy!
