I'm sure it does feel strange SE but good to know Henry is being well looked after.

We met the sweetest little Staffie puppy today. Flossie has a Staffie friend, Archie, who we used to meet quite regularly out and about. I knew he was ailing and we hadn't seen him since Christmas. Today we met his owner, who confirmed that Arcie is no longer with us,:-(, but instead he had Stan, an 8 week old pup, in a sling. He's not had all his jabs yet, hence the sling, but they're getting him used to sights and smells etc. He was just the cutest little thing!

SE that must be hard. I'm glad that Henry is settling as that means you don't have additional worry.

I echo everyone's sentiments about Henry, SE. So strange for you, but some sort of relief too I hope.

Staffies do have sweet faces. It's sad they have such a bad reputation, they are lovable characters on the whole. Usual silly owners story. I have yet to meet a chihuahua with a nice nature though.

I don't suppose any of the rest of you have read Monty Don's dog book? Raffo's mum gave it to him as a birthday present (along with a DVD of the film 'Pride' which is surprisingly good). Anyway there is a story about one of his dogs who is a JRT cross - and confirms all one's worst suspicions about JRTs being nature not nurture.

This dog fights ANYTHING. And carries house bricks round with him.He is what you might call A Bit Tasty.

Good to hear SE.

I'm looking forward to hearing more Stan stories in due course LD. I haven't read Monty Don's book (nor have I seen Pride) but might have to look out both of them I think.....

Monty Don's book is charming and not soppy, quite sad in parts. Still hardback ATM so wait a bit! 'Pride' was on the telly at Christmas but we didn't see it then. Bill Nighy is in it (always a recommendation in my book) - also Imelda Staunton, Dominic West and Andrew Scott and Paddy Considine, so a pretty stellar cast. It's funny and quite moving ... and didn't half take me back to the early 80s!

Yes, Son1 gave me Monty's book at Christmas. It's a good read!

Is 'Pride' the one set in the Welsh valleys? I meant to record it when it was on and then forgot.

Yeah, London gay activists support Welsh mining community. Based on a true story - and the true story is just as good! (Also a bit sad - takes you back to the pain and the prejudice about Aids, as well as about the miners.)

Iirc the rev Richard Coles (radio 4 Saturday morning and occasional have I got news for you panelist) was one of the gay activists. His autobiography is an interesting insight into those times.

Sigh... Mr has come back from the morning walk covered in mud. He fell while failing to stop Jet from eating a dead bird in the nature reserve. Mr is now refusing to let Jet off the lead 'ever again'.
