It's like that Jack Dee sketch about the difference between cats and dogs.

Dogs will watch you putting up a shelf and will think, 'what are you doing? That does look clever!'

And a cat will think, 'that's never gonna stay up. You definitely need a bigger raw plug. Don't like the colour...'

Just catching up on a flurry of posts!

Beautiful photo of Maverick, what a handsome dog! And yes, I can well imagine Phoebe is plotting her next move :-)

BBL, you must feel very proud of Wanda. What a well behaved, well mannnered dog she has grown into, all down to your hard work and perseverence of course. I can only dream of having such a well trained dog. Charlie is getting better but I'm aware we have a long way to go yet...

Hee hee! Lovely photos. Phoebe is concentrating so hard on what you are doing working out how to undo it!!

Maverick is utterly utterly beautiful - but then I am a bit biased.

And Wanda is a very very good dog and deserves an extra treat and cuddle for that behaviour. How long has it taken you, BBL? I reckon that Leah took 3 years to get to that point in her training...

Today was the first time I have been able with Wanda to attempt that in a real life situation, because the circumstances were OK and yes it's about 3 years....although it's something I would have practiced much more if we were not so restricted about off lead work. Her walking to heel off lead and her recall are both good (she was Gold Test 'ready' about a year ago) but we can't ever take the risk with her off lead, however well behaved we know her to be because of the attitude of a number of individuals locally who believe Staffies are dangerous dogs that should never be off the lead near a children's play area (or indeed anywhere else!)

I like the play bows in that picture - a lovely example of dog communication. And I echo what everyone else says about Wanda; you are a credit to each other.

I was very pleased with her - she is so sweet with the Pugs as well - the little fawn one kept bashing her on the nose with her paw this morning because Wanda wasn't chasing her enough.... they are such comical little things I'm not sure quite what Wanda makes of them :-)

I have been watching Naughty But Nice dogs today its a training video and playing some boundary games with Henry involving a bit of impulse control. It was going really well until the cat came in and he lept across the lounge to chase her.

The snow and bright moonlight meant it was light enough for my two to get off their leads tonight, so I tried some recall practice in the park. I'll give Stella full marks for attention and enthusiasm, but she failed miserably to judge her stopping distance from full speed in the snow! I'd to jump out of her way every time, as she skidded towards my legs at top speed.
