I feel you pain re: recall, HP. One of the dogs I borrow to take out for walks is a 3 year old Sprocker who is exactly the same - she's perfectly capable of recalling beautifully but as soon as she finds something more interesting she's off, and she's so fast she's miles away before I know it. Sometimes she'll (eventually) come back, get a treat for having come back, and then she's off again. (It doesn't help that she's not mine, I don't know anything about dog training, I only see her once a week at most and she's a total nightmare to walk on a lead. She's adorable and I love her, but also a right pain!) |

George is great at recall 99.5% of the time - except when he's found discarded food or has picked up the scent of a rabbit/squirrel/cat/any other small furry creature. I can see him thinking about his options too - do as I'm being asked or eat/chase? Eat/chase wins every time. I am very selective about where I let him off the lead though so fortunately, he rarely has to make that decision.

Love the pick. There is something so joyful about dogs having a good play together.

Eventually Leah was trained to come full pelt if I stood with my arms outstretched and at half pelt if I had my arms at 45 degrees from my sides. Eventually... Love the picture. More pictures please everyone! |

I noticed her earlier she's becoming a bit of a regular star on the home page these days.... I shall have to try to get some dog walking routes and pictures too so that Wanda can perhaps make an appearance there some time

Well obviously I don't really do the sortof running where you might take pics, so I started logging my dog walks and sometimes take my phone. I don't always remember - I don't take my phone everywhere, i prefer to carry as little as poss: poo bags, a few treats... that's it!
