One of the dogs I borrow to take out for walks is a 3 year old Sprocker who is exactly the same - she's perfectly capable of recalling beautifully but as soon as she finds something more interesting she's off, and she's so fast she's miles away before I know it. Sometimes she'll (eventually) come back, get a treat for having come back, and then she's off again. (It doesn't help that she's not mine, I don't know anything about dog training, I only see her once a week at most and she's a total nightmare to walk on a lead. She's adorable and I love her, but also a right pain!)
SarahWoo Jan 2017 4:55pm, 11 Jan 2017 7,517 posts	0 SarahWoo George is great at recall 99.5% of the time - except when he's found discarded food or has picked up the scent of a rabbit/squirrel/cat/any other small furry creature. I can see him thinking about his options too - do as I'm being asked or eat/chase? Eat/chase wins every time. I am very selective about where I let him off the lead though so fortunately, he rarely has to make that decision.

I don't always remember - I don't take my phone everywhere, i prefer to carry as little as poss: poo bags, a few treats... that's it!
