Jet is curled up in his bed in my study looking at me with a bit of white eye - the kind that says "*Must* you work on a day when the garden smells particularly interesting?

Hmm, Sharkie, how does one 'characterful' GSD compare to two 'mad as a box of frogs' spaniels?

Ernie's dog walker does at home boarding, as well as daycare. Her collie apparently loved Ernie when she took him to the house to play last week. I like the idea of the at home, if you can find a good fit. My sisters BT had a great time when she stayed over night at a place locally (my landlord was being an arse about the dog staying at the house).

Ernie is another under your feet kind of office assistant/dining companion. He ignores the crate and bed altogether. This morning he wrangles my collection of re-usable hessian shopping bags onto the floor and lay on top of them. Then re-located to the laptop bag.

I'm not sure.

We went for a visit this afternoon.

There were other dogs ; a very bouncy and noisy Weimeraner that is a lifetime buddy of the GSD (apparently the GSD was rehomed with the man because together they make an uncontrollable pack at their first home), and a scared Labrador that backed away in fear when it saw me (that's never happened to me before!)

The GSD and the Weimi barked at Jet and tried to bounce him - Jet didn't like that at all.

However, only the two year old GSD will be there at the weekend.

The Weimi and the Lab were locked away and we introduced the GSD and Jet. Jet kept trying to climb up my leg and to sit on me. The GSD then lay down quietly and Jet gradually calmed down when he wasn't attacked. We then took the GSD and Jet into the garden. There they eventually managed some parallel, ignoring each other, and Jet's tail went up to normal height. He was keeping out of the way of the GSD.

I'm going to try leaving Jet there on Friday evening, but... I'm not sure...

Presumably if you leave Jet there and they have any concerns during the course of the evening they can ensure they sleep in different rooms or put both in crates perhaps? One would hope that the GSD is pretty good to be in that line of business as it were, but I guess the not knowing who the other house guests are (if there are any) might be a worry.
