Sub 80 min Half Marathon Support

I don't race these days but am still doing a little pacing.

Will be running 81 mins at Wokingham later this month pacing a 2.53 marathon runner.

Ah yes, I remember and I paced sub 90. I remember at about 6 miles I looked round and I had about 15 folks behind me, great fun.

Hoping to go 81 - 82 this spring. Fingers crossed for some improved racing weather.

Good to the thread back indeed.

Since Feb 2015 I've been consistent, but consistently mediocre with no real targets set or attempted. Since the New year I've started to ramp up some training and although its not much I've suddenly started to find a little bit of form. So getting optimistic again. I'm running Reading at start of April, but the real goal is a London pb, so I may not go all out. Would expect to be around 80mins at Reading.

Very interesting to see 3 ultra runners getting good results off of very long runs at easier paces. I imagine a 27 mile long run gets you plenty strong! I would assume that will include plenty of hills too?

10 x 75 sec hills tonight. 2'30 jog recovery. Nice to see there's still some pace in the legs!

57.5 Degrees of Pain
Huntsman - Having looked at my logs, most of the road running was in the 8.xx and 9.xx minute mile realm, and so were the longer runs. Then there was some slower stuff in what passes for tough terrain in these parts: hills, beach, dunes, bog.

I do run to work nearly every day, nearly 3 undulating miles at about 7.20-7.30mm. I think this might help as a counter to the largely slower stuff. I didn't do any sessions or hill work last spring, did do a little bit of race pace, one hard 10k, 3 halfs in quick succession and a hard run parkrun many weeks. Two other changes last winter: training was not interrupted for a ski trip and I ran quite a few x-country races for the first time.

This year has seen no x-country, a ski trip last week that will have me over race weight for weeks, few parkruns (setting up a new one is taking up the available Saturdays) and no speedwork of any kind. Let's see how that all works out!

Are you doing Inverness 57.5? Kinloss -> Lossie look like they managed to go the other way this year and make the route long!

Felt I was in a bit of a rut 2 weeks ago, feeling quite tired and not making much progress, amazing how a few days can change everything has started to click this week. 45 mins @ sub-6 on Tuesday and 7 x 3 mins @ sub 5:30 last night. Feeling strong right now, have a 3k this coming Friday which might be a bit of a shock to the system.

I am doing Inverness Duckinator, always enjoy the race despite the dodgy weather it always seems to get.

Yes, after years of complaints about the short course it was 21.2 on my Garmin. Not outrageously long IMO. Could not quite break the 80 minute mark this year, but the extra weight I am carrying is more to blame than the extra distance.
