Keep chipping away, both are there really. Would say in September you will go way under 80 minutes!

Almost know the feeling guys. Not quite as close as that (Peacy takes the biscuit there!) but I ran 1.20.xx twice before I finally broke 80. In those conditions Tizer you are clearly in sub 80 shape. By the time you get another chance you'll smash it. Can't believe how little time you lost up Menstrie Brae! I hate that f*cking hill :)

I'm going to target 10k/half once the marathon is dusted. Scottish 10k champs at Stirling and then the HM champs at GSR in October are likely to be my big targets. Same as Tizer I think the tempo work has really helped, but I'm learning to hate tempo work, lol. On the other hand it's making sub LT/MP runs seem that wee bit easier.

STOOSH
I managed 80.46 which still needs a bit of work. I lost it all battling the wind along the hillfoots but also managed to push on in the last mile.
The main positive I'll take from alloa is I now believe I can go sub80 so hopefully next time out!!

I found Menstrie Brae ok on Sunday Davie because the 4 miles before that were straight into that wind. It was actually a relief to turn and start climbing. I was also feeling pretty good and managed to drop the two guys that were running in our wee group of 4 along hillfoots (3 of us swapping the lead the whole time and 1 Hunters Bog Fucker that was just tagging on the back the whole time)

I'm no use at focusing on shorter races. As with quite a few others my best times at shorter distances seem to come off the back of a good marathon training campaign so plenty long tempo sessions in the warm Scottish sunshine

Stoosh, you're clearly in better shape that you give yourself credit for sometimes. Two weeks ago you were looking for sub 31 at Cupar and ran 28.xx. Once you get the mental side sorted I'm sure you'll kick on well under 80 mins

Ran Coventry half last Sunday and took a whopping 4 mins and 19 secs off to go comfortabky under 1:20 in 1:18:11. Chuffed to buts. Ran stronger at the end rhan at any point of the race had a 4 mule hilly section in the middle so pretty made up. 16th place, team prize and money for charity of choice. How good is that?

Just got to get this marathon out of the way on Sunday. Looking forward to a rest afterwards then back to training for my favourite distance :) Really need to start thinking about knocking a bit of time off my HM PB.
