Game not working very well when you run away from home, ran Abingdon yesterday, and ended up with 40 points for the day, mainly because I lost 236 points to traffic lights, definitely feel cheated on this one

Yup, I think we should get the rule about traffic lights not working at weekends back (which was basically to stop people making crazy profits from races).

But that rule was to stop people buying traffic lights and dumping them on race routes. Now they randomly spawn and then someone has to run through them to own them (and revisit them every 7 days to keep them). Also as they only last 30 days, I think its fair.

I got hit 3 times by the same set of lights on Saturday after recording a warm up, parkrun and a cool down. This week I will stop/start warm up and cool down a bit further down the road ;-)

+1 Badger. I can foresee somebody making 1,000s of points from VLM just because they spotted a traffic light happened to randomly land on the route. Although IMO it's much more likely they'll just have ran over a TL without even realising it, and there's no "skill/effort" required in that.

Knowing I was running Abingdon marathon, I took regular trips over there for recce runs etc to cultivate those random traffic lights that popped up. I was also lucky that one appeared just near the finish line on the day which I nabbed with an early download of my Garmin. The marathon didn't work out so well (I tweaked a hamstring, DNF), but earnt 1276 fetchpoints :)

But looking at the leaderboard, of the top 100, only about 4% of points are gained from traffic lights. Flowers are still the big earners.

You lot are awfully hard on people who get lucky! Anyone who acquires a traffic light or any other point generating items does still have to done the running/walking/cycling to get it - if they play tactically enough to work that out why shouldn't they benefit? I am never going to be in high figures for this on the leaderboard and a large element of that is down to CBA - I run when I usually run and only tend to do a weekly bug clear - I do try and grab the prize tokens if I can but I just quite like the fact that sometimes the game makes me run where I haven't before or motivates me to take a walk at lunchtime or during a weekend.

Hope you recover quickly Oranj, not good, glad something went well.

Yes Autumnleaves, its tough out there in fetchpoint 😂 My main motivation for the game is also that it motivates me out of the door on days I wouldn't bother & the prizes too now

1) The scoreboard and markers don't 'reset' on the first of the month any more. They work on a rolling 30 day system.
2) You only need to worry about red bugs.
