This is all really useful folks, thank you :-)

Right now, I'm thinking that we need to:

1) reintroduce prizes. Discussions already underway.

2) reduce the overall number of markers on the map (especially bugs) - to make them a bit more worthy of a detour, rather than just mowing through tons of markers and seeing what happens. I like the idea of generating a route, but perhaps if there were fewer markers to choose from, it might be more obvious where you'd need to go.

3) possibly remove a few of the marker types to make the game simpler. Presents, current version of checkpoints, and detonators all earmarked for the chop.

4) traffic lights - too many of them to care about near me. Fewer, and rethink - but I really want to keep the general idea.

5) Pokestops. Wait, what? WTAF! :-)

6) 'collectibles'. Bridges, cakes, post boxes trig points etc. Put all these into one sticky closeable layer, so that those who want to collect can do so, but without detracting from the rest of the game.

7) Fetchpoint on the go... I'm not promising :-)

8) Tougher sentencing for cyclists. Although to be fair, if you stick a relay on a cycle path, it's gonna go miles.

9) Overall, I want to look at the points strategy, to try to remove the advantage of any one tactic. Of course, by doing that, I'll undoubtedly introduce more bias somewhere - but at least you'll have fun exploiting it when you find it :-)

What's a waymarker? If you want regular updates on when people are crossing your patch, I've found that placing a strategic bridge or two around the area (on actual bridges, obv.) generates game alerts in "Your Recent Activity" when other runners cross them. Sneaky, huh?

I've found since moving to a rural area, I'm less interested in Fetchpoint as much less of my home circle is accessible (I don't really want to wander around in fields of crops, especially as I know the man who farms most of the land around here). I don't know the best way to improve the game though).

Oh, and ditto postboxes, above.

I can imagine that the game is a lot less fun if you don't have other Fetchies living nearby. Maybe that's what bicycles are for...

Yup that's what I do oranj.

On the go? ....definitely not. I want to look at the game before I leave the house and then when I get back. I don't want to get my phone out when I'm running.....when I'm running, I'm running

I also meant to say that I don't have any players within about 5 miles and a lot of my runs are with groups so don't start from home - this means I plant flowers and not much else.

Sorry, I meant relays. It's been a long day💤 Relays are a game in to themselves really.

===========
1) The scoreboard and markers don't 'reset' on the first of the month any more. They work on a rolling 30 day system.
2) You only need to worry about red bugs.
