I really dislike the idea that some particular road or path should be exclusively for the use of one single Fetchie. I ran round Cambridge Airport the other day as part of a long run and picked a lot of flowers. OK, that's part of why I picked that particular route that day, but I do use it regularly and I wasn't going to pick another route just because somebody else has been using it more recently.

Last year I picked a couple of routes deliberately to pick flowers :-)

To be blunt - if it's on the map then it's fair game as far as I'm concerned - that goes as much for any flowers I've planted as any I may pick from others.

I sometimes feel very slightly peeved at some of the pickings but mostly I don't mind, especially if I've been back and watered them so got some good numbers on them. It is a shame when you've planted some, not managed to get back to them and they die.

I personally don't mind other fetchies picking my flowers it makes me feel like im part of the running community for example a recent famous fetchie doing the BGR picked some flowers on his route which I'd planted during a weekend trip , last year another famous buzzy fetchie picked some flowers I'd planted doing a bike sportive it makes us all connected in a weird way ? :-) in other news I managed to get my 5th Gorilla this eve and creeped into the top 100 which for me is good going :-)

I agree with CumbriAndy in that once on the map all flowers are fair game and as stated in an earlier message I've gained and lost points due to sportive / race courses going through someone else's or my 'planting' routes. Overall I don't think of losing points when someone picks my flowers compared to likely harvested points as I don't think there is likely to be too big a differentiial between the two. Furthermore where flowers are planted on a 'one-off' route ie races again, holiday etc, picking is actually welcome otherwise all points would be lost. However, where I believe the planter loses out is the on going 'watering points' that could have been be gained, even on flowers with max points, on 'core' routes.

So overall my view is if there are flowers about, go pick them and there is no need to feel sorry about it because it's all part of the game

Today I picked flowers from five different Fetchies - I hope they all pick mine.

Back in the day, flowers were not harvested - they were only picked - therefore if you were out on your own somewhere your flowers never got picked and you scored no points. Harvesting is a concession to those fetchies who have no neighbours - allowing them to get points for flowers. Therefore the original intention was that flowers should be picked. There was also no cap at 5000 points. I was not the only fetchie to advertise the location of a well watered garden in the hope that someone would make a special detour.

If you've planted them be prepared to have them picked
