Alpenrose I don't think they are deducted once you have points, but are deducted from your annual cumulative points score

Ah! Thanks mick, I always wondered about that. I liked your advice to Alice about the flowers. That's okay until someone comes along and picks them.

No fear of anyone nicking my flowers here! The downside being that nobody will be planting any for me to pinch either.

Alice, Mick came a might long distance to pick a flower 'glitch' trail that I left behind many months back. It was a long distance to come but, I am sure that he will tell you that the reward was worth it. :)

Alpenrose, agreed it only works until someone does pick them, last year someone drove 10 miles to pick one of my trails, gained 1.8m points but cost me about 500k. Also this year I had identified a route that no one else seemed to use only to find out that part of the 'Flat out in the Fens' sportive route went along 20 miles of it, had to do a lot of replanting after that. :-)

I think I've hit Ted a few times as the 110 mile route of 'Flat out' goes through his area whilst the 154 mile route goes through mine. when i did last years ride with all the flowers picked/planted etc and with another fetchie doing the same route so immedaitely picked all the flowers I had planted I scored almost 1m points in one ride.

I was thinking about Mick's daily flower planting calculations and wondering about the fact that, once the flower is worth 5000 points, you don't add any more by watering them again. It felt like the later trips were wasted, and I wondered if you would get more points overall by having, say, one route for each day of the week. You would still water each flower 5 times before it harvested, which should be enough to get full value for them.

My instinct was telling me you would get more points overall. But logic was telling me the total number of flowers would be the same, so there couldn't be any more points. And as I think about it now, you would get fewer watering points, because you would only be watering 1/7 of your flowers each day.

So, overall I think Mick's right that a single route repeated daily is the way to get the most flower points. My head hurts!

I think you made mine hurt too Barb. ;-) I went for a walk this afternoon (on a route I've been on a few times with no-one else picking yet), planned and got a nearby random - I lost 1000 points! :(

I couldn't handle the same route every day, that'd be no fun. I get a kick out of running where I've never been before, great if I stumble across a flower or other marker. As I don't run the same route that often, I find MY points are greater from flowers if someone picks them. as by the time the harvest comes around very few get to the magic 5000.

there are a few fetchie fetchpointers near me, and they regularly pick my planted/watered flowers and I pick their flowers. then more flowers get planted/ picked and isn't it the case that both parties get the points once a flower is picked?

I've never counted it up, but I 'feel' more points come my way from that , than waiting for six weeks to elapse when I collect on a harvest- I could be wrong though.

All this thinking makes my brain hurt :-)
