CStar - I'm a bit over the top with mine and every couple of weeks* I'll give the cables a thorough clean, and I have a fantastic cable specific lube I use very sparingly for the part that runs inside the housing. *or after any particularly wet/grimy ride |

Back wheel on my single speed is a bit stiff, really noticed it on hill home. It seems to be on true and isn't rubbing on brakes or mudguard but is not spinning freely. Any ideas before my trip the lbs. |

By 'stiff' do you mean if feels slower? Tyre pumped up properly? Does it spin freely when off the ground? Does it spin freely when off the ground and the chain is off? If no then wheel bearings or freewheel If yes then (probably) chain or (possibly) chainset |

Harder going uphill, spins off ground, but slows quicker than I would expect. Tyres def pumped up, new chain and freewheel are relatively new. Will try with chain off, or take to LBS as removing and replacing the back wheel is a massive pain. |

Oh! has a freewheel - ignore that. Could be the bearings |

Removing the back wheel is a pain? Does it have horizontal drop outs? - If not fixed in well enough they can shift (I've been told)

It is more trying to remember which order to do it in there are screws that need to be loosened, before loosening the wheel nuts. (see below). It isn't that difficult, but I haven't done it for at least three years. google.co.uk |

Sorry winded dropouts are horizontal, was loose, tightened, but hasn't improved things.

Is the rear cog aligned to the front chainwheel?
