I imagine that it would be steel owing to other materials resistance to oxidation ;-)

Drawing on my classic car days I would suggest a cheap rust proofing solution from your local motor factor. Typically it comes in a pot and is gel like. Rub the frame down.Treat it, actually reading the instructions first. Then paint.

Refinishing,depends on your talents really. you might just want to touch up the affected area rather than a full respray.

Cheers RM, reading instructions will be the toughest bit.

I will beg the wife to do the paint as I am crap, and she can paint murals.

Is it just metailic paint I am after.

Or go to your local Halfrauds and find a car touch in kit with laquer etc. I use these for touching in some chips and rust spots on my bikes.

Nail varnish is good for small paint chips. You might need to drag your bike into Boots to find the right shade though.
