Under 40 is pretty low. I've just tested mine and it's 48, I don't think it's ever dropped below 44.

Well, I don't think I have low blood pressure, I assumed it was this: sportsmedicine.about.com I have passed out a few times in the night after a few beers, smashing my face on the sink, ouch! The dizzyness is just bloody horrible!

So have we all given up on heart rate training? Mine is going well, just done 1.7 miles at 7.41 avg for 943 beats Things are looking good, more surprised as I am battling a cold and only trotted to the bank and back with a ruck sack on. Have also redone my HR zones for this year |

I'm still doing HR training, Gobi. I've just recovered from a bad cold and started with some nice and easy runs this week. The idea of redoing the HR zones also crossed my mind; I have a session planned at the gym tonight to reassess my zones. I wish I'd get my bpm as low as you do. On easy runs it was in the 1300s before the cold, but after the cold I was up to 1512 on my first outing, then 1426 and today 1336 which is basically where I was before. On tempos or speed sessions, however, I get it down to 1200-1250. Still a long way to go though. |

I think we have fewer people asking questions than in the past. Maybe the Beginners thread could do with a prod. Hadd thread is very quiet too. |

So I avoid the Hadd I must admit and yes it has been a while since a real training question was asked but nice to catch up with people as I use so few threads. I paced the Wokingham half (1.22) and had some great stats for that which show that although I am no longer training long my heart is still going well. |

I still use HR for my training. I've started looking for something which is a properly objective measure of changes in fitness. I know the real measure is how fast I run in a race but in the meantime what is there? I'm tracking my pace at 145 (my 70% WHR mark) from the little graph on the training dashboard page. I figure that it must be the best thing easily available as it's a rolling average of 6 weeks so takes out weather and wobbles to average out and it's not really as affected by perceived effort (like trying to run a set route regularly at the same average HR). Over the last 4 weeks that measure has improved by about 4 seconds per mile. Anyone have any thoughts beyond "don't be such a ponce"? |
