I get the feeling that Anna Expert-in-Women's-Issues Tregorran hasn't really earned her fee yet. I wonder how realistic it is, that it should be taking so long to draw all the threads together?

The rending of garments and gnashing of teeth from Pat is getting really annoying. This is not the strong Pat of old. I know she had a bad time after John's death but in that case there was nothing she could actually *do*. This time she seems to think that just because Helen is Helen she can get off scot-free, whereas I would have expected her to go into battle in a much more pro-active way.

I don't really understand the legal stuff, but can't she turn round and say sorry, I don't want to be a prosecution witness, I'm going to defend my daughter, sod you?

Wouldn't that be contempt of court? She gave evidence to the police, who have a duty to report this in the court papers, which means she can be called up by whoever may benefit from that evidence. Her chance to set the record 'straight' for her daughter would be in cross examination by Ms Tregorran.

I'm no expert either but I thought it was something to do with the fact both Kirsty and Pat already have given evidence, so what old mum says follows. And Anna gets a chance to cross examine them ( presumably armed with info she'll now get via Tom and hopefully others) I don't think even the occasionally bonkers Archers scriptwriters would be allowed to get the court stuff that wrong.

I understand the Pat situation less - but she did go to the police and volunteer information - annoying plot wise, but what follows is then correct?

We need some legal eagles!

No hang on... Kirsty is a key WITNESS for the prosecution - because she was the first person on the scene, before the police arrived. (Still not sure about Pat)

Isn't it because Pat told the police she had heard Helen threaten to kill Rob?

I'm guessing Jess could be the defence witness that Anna pulls out of the hat to completely trash the prosecution's case though.... Once Tom has told her about Jess of course.....
