Perhaps a Dr with a Belgian accent and an insight into what will happen when we Brexit. (Not really - obviously) More sensibly a white male is a but limiting; playing with race and gender could mix it up a bit. I also tend to think that the younger higher energy recent Drs have been better than the current one because they were younger and irreverent and have higher energy performances- so I come down on the side of a black female teenager, why not? |

The trouble is good scifi actually reflects real issues and real things, even in the guise of fantasy. Personally I don't see how being a white male is limiting. The same problems of scripts, lack of new ideas and a general feel of listlessness will exist is Dr Who is a woman, black man or Sanjiv Bashar. The problem with Dr Who lately is that it has turned into some sort of soap opera that has become character driven rather than ideas driven which scifi fantasy should be. Basically Dr WHo has to be someone who looks like or at least acts like they;ve seen everything there is to see....and has to be somewhere between arrogant, tired, restless, intelligent and has they have just been re-generated, full of beans. I have no idea who fits that bill, as you know I find a lot TV, and film utterly boring and anything interesting that does do well is milked for a dozen box sets. hmmmmm David Lynch as director. Badger Didn't see The Lakes. Did like Missy very much but not nearly as much as John Simm. I John Simm. Tim Roth is not a million miles from Nick Cage |

amazon.co.uk Treat in store for you, Linds. Remember there is no series 2. I can imagine Cage as a very manipulative Doctor, getting everyone else to do the difficult stuff. Matt Smith did that a fair amount, but by inspiring people rather than exploiting them. But 75% of what Cage does is terrible, so no. Roth, hmm, I can definitely see that. |
