Lol @ WS.

If it was Tim Roth I would be delighted. Two of my favourite things together :)

Guy Henry - although he wouldn't be disimilar to what has gone before

(oh and a Peter Cushing connection thrown in there for good measure, didn't see that at first!)

I'm sad Capaldi is leaving - he's too good an actor to deal with the dreadful scripts of recent series. We've been watching the earlier episodes on Netflix again recently, and I still enjoy the Martha & Donna series - but it's clear as time passes by (and especially after RTD left) that the quality crashed.

I *hated* Freema Agyeman. She had the acting ability of a pair of slippers. Matt Smith was my favourite Doctor and I thought his first series was terrific.

But something about the Capaldi series never clicked for me, and I suspect for a lot of viewers. I'm not sure it's just the scripts though, bad though they were. Great actor though he is, I don't think it worked, following on from Messrs Eccleston, Tennant and Smith to go back to a Hartnell, Troughton and Pertwee style Doctor.

Let me be clear - the Martha series is good *despite* her. The stories are just entertaining.

That's true - the Weeping Angels were introduced then, weren't they? Yes, there were some cracking stories. And the very fun re-intro of the Master

I personally thought Smith was appalling......although heavily out voted by family and friends on this.....but I stopped watching during his tenure and couldn't get into the Capaldi series either despite thinking he is a great actor.

I'm afraid I'm voting against you as well Turkhish. I was VERY sceptical re: Smith at first, but he quickly won me round.

Capaldi on the other hand, I had high expectations, but the story lines have been lacking.

Capaldi was a good idea that failed. Smith was very odd hebdif not work for me either. Tennant was brilliant early on but tailed off. Ecclestone nailed itvif you ask me. As I have quite possibly said a few timed Dr Who needs a rest and a re-think much like in the Ecclestone days.

It has become too self referential much like the last series of Sherlock almost for fans only which means it appeals to an ever narrowing audience.
