It also starts with a "Captain's Log"...didn't really think about it at the time.

No comments yet, so I assume everybody was watching the rugby and is waiting to watch it on iPlayer or from recordings?

We caught up with it last night and thoroughly enjoyed it. I won't slip any spoilers yet for those that haven't watched.

We watched, but it was a bit predictable in parts I felt. Maybe I've watched too much similar stuff.

I thought it got a bit unneccessarily over complicated and I really wasn't sure about the opening with the Doctor in the Tardis.

Some good lines and characters though - which is what Toby Whithouse (writer) is best at. I think the second part got 'Moffeted'.

Really not connecting with this or the previous series as much as with the Ecclestone/Tennant and select Smith episodes...

Quite enjoyed it. Watched both episodes last night and thought the Bootstrap Paradox bit to camera fit quite nicely. Not sure that it wouldn't have worked as a slightly longer scene with Clara after the resolution though. What do I know. I'm not a writer.

Too clever? Standard timey wimey stuff, surely?

And it didn't feel like it was part of a single connected story but a lot of the Ecclestone stuff felt similarly stand-alone at the time in my memory. It was only later that we realised quite how connected they were (or was I just a bit slow on the uptake?).

The piece to camera was a bit too Derren Brown for me. Surely "Bootstrap paradoxes" have appeared in Doctor Who a dozen times before without the writer doing a big song and dance about it.

It was however worth it just for the heavy metal guitar version of the Doctor Who theme.

Icemaiden- Yes, like me you've probably watched or read too much sci fi :-) However, there has to be an element of predictability or the writers get accused of using "deus ex machina" when the Dr wins.

I'm sure the Dr Who fan site are full of other examples of episodes featuring the Bootstrap paradox so might wander off to have look...

The Scribbler
The Agatha Christie episode springs to mind...
And the Shakespeare one.
