I have no idea who Maisie Williams is and I've never seen Game of Thrones (the only person in the world not to, it seems), but...

Funky Chicken
I was given Game of Thrones Season 1 for my birthday a few years back but only managed to get through the first 4 episodes, not because it was bad, but because I'd had enough of it after wading through the first 5 volumes of the books and gradually getting dissatisfied with where it was (or wasn't) going. The Arya character has one of the most interesting story-lines, and although I only saw the actress in a few episodes, she seemed pretty good, and others who have stuck with the series say she just gets better in the role.

mrs J tried reading the books Funky, but as you say, she found them hard going - sub plots, going off into different tangents.

TV series is excellent though.

I gave up on GoT as a series of books, and then after series 1 on TV.
Life is too short....

the endless sex scenes made me cross - it was like the makers just thought they'd slot the odd bit of porn into the story - other than that I enjoyed it but I did just get to the point where I didn't want to watch it anymore because I'd just be would up by women being flipped over in order to be entered from behind, or the other frequent flyer was the woman's head disappearing south and then reappearing as though it was the best treat she'd had for ages.
can you tell it would me up?

Mulbs, I did think it might have won an award for the "Most Gratuitous Sex in a TV Drama"
Certainly wasn't necessary.

(Apologies to Douglas Adams for the mis-quote!)

(Douglas Adams would be proud of you! It was a combination of it being gratuitous and it being unequal in terms of participation/willingness/what was to be got out of it that really would me up. My teen's media studies teacher would no doubt talk about it being designed for the male gaze, GOT isn't alone in this either - I got the hump with about half a dozen programmes at the same time for the same thing - constant flip woman over and shag from behind or receive blow job and look smug)

the combination of gratuitous sex scenes and violence kept me glued to the telly (and Mrs J), its basically what life is all about - add onto that which colours you are going to nail to your mast, there really is nothing else, honest.

the various characters all have their agenda's, even if its just survival, its about people playing politics and nearly always selling someone down the river.

the good are not always good and the bad aren't always bad - I would also use that to describe *The Wire* - mind you there is less sex in that - but a fair mount of violence.
