Wriggling Snake
Jon Pertwee (The second best doctor ever), would shoot everything in sight, him and the Colonel, and Karate Chop it for laugh.

Young female assistant chosen for looks, shock news that.

I seem to remember the Doctor has always had a downer on the military mindset, but never got that about individual soldiers.... Think Jon Pertwee's rude comments to/about Brigadier L-S, but then the fact he also seemed to have a soft spot for the sergeant (Mike?). Although being a bit-part soldier in Dr Who is rather like wearing a red shirt in Start Trek.... not a good life expectancy.

Individual violence seemed okay....

Rather liking the more complex bit of Capaldi's nature - "Am I a good man?" & his angst/not being proud of himself for only having hatred for daleks, (Eccleston/Tennant) mixed up with the arrogance of Hartnell and Colin Baker coming through.

New series & Capaldi hold promise. But some slightly stronger story-lines would be good. I personally think it may have peaked with the war between daleks and cybermen in Canary Wharf....

For someone with an antipathy to soldiers the Doc spent an awful lot of time hanging around with the Brigadier and UNIT!

I feel this is a prejudice which will be addressed.

(Daughter is convinced Danny Pink is Journey Blue's deceased brother btw.)

Impossible to believe it won't be addressed really.

I am somehow reminded of The End of Time (not, fair to say, one of my favourite stories) where Wilf tried to give the Tenth Doctor a gun to use against the Master and Ten went on and on about how he could never use a gun, guns bad, could never ever, etc etc, before grabbing it and running off :)
