OOh, that's good for me - I'm up at 5am on Saturday eating porridge ahead of my race (registration at 6:15) so I should be able to keep track and maybe it will inspire me ;-)

Nightmare, I was going to watch, but that's too early.

My prediction is that they will not break 2 hrs and not only that, the pace will be too hot to handle and they will start to blow up around 20miles and at best they record a 2:04 time, possibly slower and more likely a DNF.

That said, I do think if they paced for say 2:01:30 then they would have a chance. However 60 minute pace to half is just too quick

Another thought.

4:45 am UK time will be 5:45 Italy time....that means they need to be eating at 2:45am and therefore up at 02:30am latest. That's not ideal preparation IMO unless they have spent a few weeks adjusting body clocks

Live stream will be hosted by Nike apparently. I've given them my mobile number via the website to get a text (presumably with a link to the stream) at the time its on.

I can't imagine that they've not thought that bit through Baz given the money they've thrown at the project. Can't see Kipchoge jogging to the line with a bowl of porridge in one hand, trying to get his pyjamas off with the other... ;-)

The FB link I posted was about the stat Chris just quoted.

I think there's an interesting paradox that the IAAF want to scrap records because people don't believe in them, but people are prepared to believe in a record attempt that will be looking to break a record by more than any record that we've seen in our lifetime.
