Couldn't miss out on a beautiful morning so pulled on gloves and hat to supplement the shirts and t-shirt whilst the ground was frosty and cracked on with my longest run to date, 25 miles. Aerobically strong, legs unsurprisingly tired towards the end but happy with the consistent 8:25 pace.

Need to get back off road but too many bogs of mud which i fear injuring myself through at the moment.

Hunts - Its looks like a few of us in the "what shape, have I done enough, can I hold that pace for 26.2" phase.

I have only done the one mara (3:10) and certainly don't feel anywhere near the shape I was for that! Still very hopeful of sub 3:15 but limited miles, only really starting any training in Feb (plus running for Nov and Dec all at 8:45 pace) makes me nervous!

You have had a solid training 6 x 20 is VERY impressive (that's more than I have done in my entire life!!)

Baz - Great 5k. Well done.

only weak men
Some fine racing and training going on bazo
and hunts especially. Cracking spring morning for a run.

38:51 for me in the Tough 10k at Greenwich Park. Way off my pb but as the name suggests a very hilly course and an isolated 2nd place finish.

that's good running OWM and nice to get on the podium (I can only imagine!).

Good pace too Baz. Perhaps things are coming together just at the right time.

I'm wobbling with you Hunts but I know it happens at this stage. You're way better trained than ever before and you should take a big chunk off.....how big that chunk can be is the tricky bit. Some bits of MP in the next few weeks should help. Oh, that and a run when it's not as windy as f**k should help!

Looks like KS was at the Relays today too - great day out hey?

2 more 20 miles SailorSteve? 2 week taper for you?

Thanks for the feedback.

I'll see what MP feels like for the half this Sunday. Not too hard hopefully. 4 weeks out and wobbling already 😂

Hunts - I hope to do one long run during next week and my last one on mon 3rd, so I'll still get almost 3 weeks tapering. The one on the 3rd will be my first/only one on tarmac, which I'm keen to do to get some acclimatisation to the pounding to come. Looks like your plan has gone really well so no wobbling necessary!

WW - it was certainly an interesting day out, I really struggled with the wind which seemed to get stronger as the afternoon went on, not good for those of us on later legs.

I was supposed to be running a fairly anonymous long leg in the middle of the B team line up, befitting my status as an old, slow ultra runner ;-) but our team manager somehow managed to make a mess of registration and accidentally put me on the glory leg for the A team instead, which is full of teeny weeny speedy youngsters :-o I gave it my all so as not to let them down too badly, but 2.8 miles really isn't my distance. Quite pleased to average 6:14mm given the course, the weather, and the fact that I never do any speedwork... Enjoyed the one last blast before Manc next weekend :-)

Just a gentle 10 miles on the trails for me today, my long runs days are up for this cycle of training :-(

Nelly, I hope Manchester Mara surprises you with an unexpectedly quick one.
Hunts, you seem to have got some real quality long runs in and seem on good form.
Kinky, good elite running.
WW, saw on other thread that the candles are out for you, so happy birthday, and great MP miles.
A PR PB yesterday and a strong (for me) 22m today. Feeling stronger than I ever have and looking forward to the final run in. Unsure how others pick their final race pace but I think i will go with 3:04 target.

Honestly KS, we were all over the place yesterday - the only time I ever really knew what I was doing was when I was just running! I'd expected the ladies to be better though!!!

Nice strong target there WF. If the training's fallen in to place then why not. Not long now, Manchester has really taken me by surprise, I thought it was another week away.
