Thanks Paul - yes company on the Cornish is always welcome. I suspect the scouse one will also be not far off my pace (overtaking her at Dorset earlier this year at 17 definitely brought a smile to my face, but of course she got back to me at 21 and left me at 23)

Some of those are flip flops and sandals Jovi. They don't count as running shoes. And at least one is a pair of cycling SPDs. *hang head* ;-) !

Good luck all those still on course for autumn sub 3:15. I won't have a sub 3:15 at all this year. Not that unusual actually. Since starting runnning 2008, I only managed sub 3:15 in 2009, 2011, 2012, 2013 and 2015, not in 2010 (injured), 2014 or this year. Hopefully 2017 though! :-) G

They looked like Fit Flops actually HG and I was wondering if they are a useful purchase for holidays ? My current Achilles niggle I think started when I spent a week in the sun wearing flip flops while wandering about being a tourist - schoolboy error !

Re 3:15s, not one planned, but a bit of a breakthrough last night that has 3:15 relevance. Ive been doing twice weekly SUB LT (80% max HR) runs since start Sept. These started out at c7:55mm pace, but last nights was down to 7:31mm and almost sub 3:15 pace which for an 80% max effort I am pretty pleased with. Granted, this could be a one off, but the overall trend with the pace for effort is downwards and overall I am starting to see some nice numbers in my training. I plan to stick with this approach until the end of the year before embarking on a more marathon focussed plan - probably Jack Daniels this time around.

Interesting about the years with actual sub 3:15s. I first bagged one in 2008 and apart from 2011 have recorded a sun 3:15 every year. 2011 is going to annoy me now, I did run a 3:20:26 which had about a 7 week injury taper and then turn up and see what I could do. I started at sub 3 pace for as long as I could, now I wish I had just gone for a 3:15 to have an unbroken record. I suspect Paul A would win this with annual sub 3:15s going back quite some way

Only to 2006 Bazo - my first year of marathons was 2005 and only managed a 3:15:xx (this was my second ever marathon and I didn't really understand the concept of sub xxx, just happy to get round). Cracked it more than once every year since then. Don't race any more so not sure how long it will continue, 250 and 300 are the next targets.

Baz - I'm going to be very interested to hear what JD plan you might follow. UtRaB is tempting me to change plans this time round too. Those JD schedules look hard to follow though and light on LRs compared to what we (you!) might be used to.

Nice sub LT btw, excellent progress.

I fell over last night on my intervals session with the club. I was actually checking timings with the coach on the sidelines and managed to land in a pothole. I have a purple watermelon as a left ankle and a bloody right leg. I suppose it's a good time to have a bit of time off but I am devastated that I will never be able to take the piss out of the 3:15 thread fallers ever again. This is now twice for me this year (zero in all other running years, doh).

It's a sign of old age WW, your balance starts to go :-p Hope things not too bad, and you recover well.

Nice HADD'ing Baz.

Hopefully I'm almost over an achilles problem that has killed off my running for the last 2 weeks. Been doing a bit of cycling to try and stop putting on the pounds.

WW- saw that you splatted on strava hope you get over it quickly

Tend to rotate three or four pairs of shoes. Need some new one as all are pretty dead.

So who has entered Berlin ballot ?

Bazoaxe - Fitflops are the DB's - as you can see they are my second highest category after trainers :) - I live in them when I've not got trainers on. Super comfy.
