You guys have helped me to decide to save 50 quid by getting the Garmin 230 instead of 235. Who needs heart rate anyway?! :-) G

You don't NEED the HRM but £50 over the life time of wearing it and getting HRM data to analyse, bargain.

My wife has made that point in the past - a life-long lack of upper body toning has constantly left her a tad disappointed, clare!

But the optical hrm data is pretty rubbish at the moment, a lot more accurate using a strap

There are benefits to being a relative luddite still with a garmin 610 and conventional strap :-)

Nelly
Daz, good luck with the X-ray results, fingers crossed you get the all clear.

Gus, how's your hamstring feeling? Better for a few days rest I hope.

Following on from last weekend's 5k PB, and the concerns I had in my blog prior to it, with 8.5weeks until Manchester I'm now beginning to worry that I'm going to peak too soon. I'm doing high mileage (for me), hitting all my sessions, and feeling fit/strong, and not overly tired. Next week was always going to be a cut-back week, dropping from 65ish-miles to 50ish, with a HM at the end of it as a fitness test, but what would everyone's thoughts be on having a very easy week (e.g. 40ish miles) in an attempt to put the breaks on my training slightly??? Or am I worrying unnecessarily, and should just proceed as planned?

Stick to the schedule Nelly. My mistake in the previous campaigns is to drift off plan.
