Oh no Dan - so sorry t hear about the stress fracture. If there is anything positive I it its thar once immobilised it usually recovers well and causes no future weakness unlike muscle or ligament damage. It is very frustrating though. I was off running about 10 weeks in total - with pot on for 3.5 of those & then building up from walking g to running.

sounds rough DG, it's tough being a man.

Lark - from my experience and from the intensity of the pain that Daz describes, I don't think it would be possible to continue to train on top of a stress fracture for that long.

Fingers crossed Daz, and hope it's not a bad lurgy Duncan.

Back on HRM - yep, I always give the strap a good soaking before a run, so it's well wetted. Warm water mind, as that's a horrible moment, strapping on a cold HRM strap, brr!
It's later on, even when I'm soaked to the skin with rain like Sunday, that it starts shooting up to the 200s, for miles on end. If I was checking the HRM I suppose I would have noticed and could have taken it off and re-wet it, but I rarely look at the display when running. Anyway, it's not a big deal as I'm not running to HR, just trying to use something I've paid for!

On the HRM readings, mine starts off well then gets dodgy a good time after. Maybe the integrated sensor in the watch doesn't like it when my wrist gets sweaty?

Hard luck on your injury DL, hope it isn't too serious in the end.

Yep agree WW there is no way I could run!

X-Ray done so hopefully nothing shows up and I can have a bit of rest and be back on it soon.

Cheers for all the comments.

Oh no Daz, sorry to read this, hope you get sorted asap.

Interesting reading about the wrist heart rate monitors, I love the idea of ditching the chest strap but my garmin 620 has plenty if life in it yet and so hopefully by the time I'm ready to upgrade the issues will be resolved. But (sorry boys), FYI any fellow ladies on the thread, my best investments over the last year have been some shock absorber run bras with the HRM sensors built in. You just attach the garmin heart rate sensor on to the front using press studs in the same way it attaches to the garmin HRM strap and it gives the most accurate readings I've had with no spikes early or late on in the run.

I know Uyuni, I was so excited when I discovered them! Us girls don't have many advantages and trying to wear a HRM band properly as well as a sports bra is not easy!

I'll stop now, don't want to embarrass you boys and I'm paranoid about doing one of my usual dodgy typos!! :)

I love that Clare. Where can I buy a man's sports bra?

LOL, just have a look at last night's HRM output - complete and utter nonsense from start to finish! Need to investigate further...
