I had a 17 miles slow run on Friday and would have gone a couple of miles further except I had a yoga class due.

This morning's run was 11 miles, but at a faster pace, seeking out several inclines that pass for hills around here and made efforts up them, although not sprinting.

Reasonable distances achieved, it's just a shame that they were so slow.

A wee bit of saliva on the thumb wiped across the contact side of the HRM when you put it on really does help with the initial readings until body moisture helps. It's just simple conductivity.

Not bothered about HRM particularly, but considering new Garmin (I left my 310xt behind at a race today, accidentally, honest!) and fancy the ones with bluetooth, just for gadget geekery. Thinking 235. :-) G

Some nice long runs.

Happy, I have the 235 and so far think it's great and really like the activity tracker side of things too. Battery life isn't too bad either.

Injury Update! Just been to doctors and being sent for an X-Ray.. He thinks is a stress fracture (let's hope not as reading that is 6-8 weeks of rest)

Jovi Runner mentioned this a couple of weeks back to me.

I will find out in a couple of days once the X-Ray is done.

Oh Daz, that would be really crap. Let's hope you get a quick diagnosis and can get the right treatments going ASAP.

Was there much of a sign of the potential stress fracture coming on Daz? I'm paranoid about a single-sided shin splint-type pain which I've had for more or less 12 months now - not getting any worse, but showing no signs of disappearing either (and I've not made time to see a physio, more fool me!) - so I've got a niggling doubt in the back of my mind that this is a stress fracture / reaction which I'm doing nothing about.

larkim - I could feel a pain for a couple of weeks but just put it down to tightness/lack of flexibility. It was only after an 18 miler that it got a lot worse.

I am still hoping its not but will get an x-ray and go from there.

Fingers crossed for you, Daz.

Bailed at 17 on my long run yesterday - it was meant to be 20. Felt rough before I went out and didn't get any better. Spent half the afternoon in the bath/bed and today I am pitching caffeine & vitamin c versus the lurgy.

Sorry to hear that Daz. Hope it's not serious and that you get confirmation and/or treatment asap. :-) G
