RIP Suzy's toe.

Yeah, I'm thinking of some running faster than sub-LT now. I reckon I still have about a 30sec gap to where I would *normally* sit when not particularly race-ready, but just between-race-fit. But it was quite hard (not HR or lungs, but legs I guess) to run at sub-LT effort last night (which averaged 7:30m/m only).

ptb - your still moving in the right direction on the subLT runs... I noticed the previous efforts being 7.37,7.39 moving onto 7.27 so last night's 7.30 pace is looking pretty consistent . I'm sure given another couple of months you'll be looking close on the 7mm area for the 80%.

I'm hoping to start tracking hr again over the coming months after i switch back to a garmin... I'm just not a huge fan of the Suunto, not because it's sh!t but more because i just can't get my head round working in km's.

Had a reasonable run out at the Alloa xc last weekend although far to much room for improvement... I'd say it's the first true xc of the year so far ploughing through 8" deep mud along fields, woods and the odd stench of sheep and cow sh1t:-o

Ptb do you fancy a wee half marathon on Sunday? Couple of loops around Greenisland, Monkstown Wood and up Station Road.

Targetting sub LT is difficult though- mostly because very few of us know exactly where it is.
When I am racing I use Daniel's formulas/tables to work it out, at present I am just guessing and trying to spot when my respiratory rate goes up.

How do you get your target pace PtB?

The new Garmin FR630 reckons it can work out LT. Not sure how to verify if the figure is correct or not though! There's a thread of the Garmin forums talking about it if anyone is interested.

Johnny - I can't vouch for ptb but imagine he'd be the same as me and run subLT to 80-82%mhr and run to hr rather than a specific pace... I'm not clued up enough to do it any other way.

Johnny/Stoosh - yep, I go by HR. Behind Johnny's question is the point that LT, and therefore sub-LT changes with fitness and form, so it's not a fixed HR. But I approach it in stages a la Hadd, and only move up to the next bpm figure once 10m at the first level is rock solid, no cardiac or pace drift.

Stoosh - are you seriously saying that the Suunto can't be changed to work in miles rather than km? If that's true it's a dreadful device. If it could and you just haven't read the manual - I'll draw a different conclusion ;-)

BS - you'll soon be taking Conquercise zones off me, you're up here that often. I thought you were after marathon numbers though? Why run a low-key HM?

What manual? It's all sorted through mymoves.com which allows you to change it to record your miles but still splits in km's (as it looks in my training page).... It just makes no sense to me whatsoever.
