Regarding the weather effect at Edinburgh - surely on an out and back course the wind is behind you in one direction? So is the effect on times that big? Never done it so curious!

Long run this morning - calm dry day - maybe today is summer! Nice to have no pressure :)

A strong wind is a problem whatever the course, so exposed coastal routes are always going to be a risk. I did a half along the prom in Blackpool in Feb last year and could hardly run in one direction - actually waited for a group to shelter in on the upwind legs. Then again, coastal routes tend to be flat, so if you get a calm day it could be fast - my 10k PB was Ayr prom in December.

18 miles just now and I felt good throughout despite yesterday's parkrun excursions. :)

I'll be getting properly dizzy on my next two runs, endless laps of Butlin's Minehead to make up my scheduled 7 and 12 mile runs whilst I'm there! :-P

Lou. In my experience the benefit is never as great as the impact of running into wind.

Postieboy - Get out of the site and explore! 3 1/2 miles out and back one day and then 6 out and back the next! Shouldn't get lost that way!

There's a coastal path that looks fairly flat that goes out of town three miles to the east if Google Maps is correct, I'll rec it tomorrow if I have time and go from there. It's a bit hilly the other way and I'd like to avoid them. I have enough of them on my everyday runs from home.
