Difficult call Dan - I would say don't do it.

Clare (and whoever else was asking!) - I know my weaknesses as they've been told to me many times - I have a tendency to tight hamstrings which usually reflects weak glutes. I also am very quad dominant - if you look at me I have huge thighs (was discussing this with my trainer this morning who used the diplomatic word "developed" muscles). I also have a weak core and probably from standing over notes trolleys hunched or not putting beds up when examining at work etc. I had rubbish posture. So most of the work thus far has focussed on glutes, core, back and some hamstring work. My track coach commented (before I told him what I'd changed) that my posture was so much better and looked better running. Most of the knowledge of my weaknesses came from either sports massage/ physio and feedback from people watching me run.

The actual work I'm doing - varies - lots of hip raises (some weighted with a 20kg bar) Deadlifts, stiff leg deadlifts (hurt like hell!), TRX rows, machine rows, planks, split squats, squats (weighted).

Dan it's doable and stoosh has a broad approach I've done edin and London with 4/5 week gap in 2009/10 &12. Check my log for training approach which was mainly ticking over.

In2009 I PBd in the second one. The other two years I was a couple of mins slower but both were tough conditions and very hot days

Wesley has done similar a few times also.

Dan, as Baz and Stoosh have said already, it's a possibility. I got consecutive PB's this spring in Manchester and then Shakespeare 3 weeks later.

I'd have recommended just ticking over between now and then, seeing how you felt and leaving entering until the last minute, but for a foreign marathon that's not really an option.

B Rubble
Dan, my experience with a few weeks between marathons has not been good, but that doesn't mean you should not do it. If Leicester was an all-out effort then four weeks recovery is probably necessary. You could take the recovery and run up to the next marathon seriously and if it doesn't go well treat it as a nice holiday or training.

BS, enjoyed the showboating pic from Dublin.

Is HT up for this weekend in Newcastle?

HT's only just back from hols in Portugal, according to FB updates. Hadn't he been injured? Not sure.

Dan, I've never done back to back maras (and I think of a month as back to back!) and feel I would be too brittle to do so. But agree that plenty of folk do. Maybe have a look at the Multiple Marathon section of P&D book? It has a structure for 2 maras with 8, 4 and 2 weeks apart - basically advocating a rest/recovery, some turnover stuff in the middle (long run and intervals/tempo) then a sharp taper. Go carefully! :-) G
