It's sadly ironic that you guys are talking about cardiac issues. At the round norfolk relay yesterday sadly a 47 year old athlete of 20 years lost his life to just such a thing. I was in our support car at the time and was there when it happened. I was first to him and with my little training in first aid started CPR and was fortunately joined by a runner from another club who was a paramedic and between us did what we could for half an hour until ambulance and then air ambulance arrived. Nothing I am afraid could be done. It's a really sobering point. Baz take this opportunity to ensure all is well. I don't want to appear melodramatic but yesterday hit home to me that fit as we are in the grand scheme of things you just never know.

TUF I just read about that elsewhere. Totally frightening and must have been for you also. Well done on your efforts which I know the family will appreciate.

Don't worry I don't

Oops

Plan to do anything silly and will see how I am.

Your talk of being first on scene just sparked a memory of a dream I had which is spooky. I am sure it was last night before my fall and I dreamt someone at work collapsed and I was first on scene but had no real training of what to do. Was that my body subconsciously telling me something.

Urban fox - read it on the news. Well done for doing your best to help. thoughts with his family and all those affected. HOpe you've had a chance to talk it through with someone - must have been horrific for all involved as no one expects it.

Oh, no. Take care Baz. I'm sure Chester is still on, don't let it phase you. Gonna have a brilliant sub 3 race face on too :-)

Very sad for the RNR runner's family. Well done TUF for your efforts, hope you're feeling OK about it all. It reminds me that I must renew my first aid, been years since I did one.

Ran a 20 miler yesterday as I ditched Bristol 1/2. Totally knackered but I think I might do Cardiff 1/2 in two weeks.

Took part in Equinox 24 over the weekend and I'm back in the game and mojo restored after a bit of a lull and a low mileage August/early September. We had an amazing weekend and still can't quite believe but our team of 5 ladies won the small teams category beating all the male teams too. We managed 34 laps of the mainly trail undulating route in the 24 hours. We are all now completely knackered. the others swear never again but after a few days recovery I'm hoping to persuade them to defend the title next year. We had no definite strategy going into the event other than to do as well as we could. I printed off lap sheets up to 36 - mainly because I could fit 12 on a page - rather than thinking we'd get anywhere near that. As the event went on we realised we were doing well and our competitive streak took over. We were all in a world of pain the the last few hours but well worth it. Some nice prize including tripy, clothing and pair of Skechers racing shoes of our choice. Feeling a lot more confident re Birmingham half now. I do seem to run well after I've had a few lighter weeks.

IT was 10KM loops ps we managed 340km between the 5 of us. I did 60KM at and average of about 46 mins a lap so happy with that as for once I didn't fade at the end. Our superstar, super fast lady knocked out 90K - 6 of which were 40 mins or less!

Brilliant Jovi. Good to see a ladies team beat all of the blokes.

We even beat all the large teams (6-8 people) bar one male team and they only managed 35 laps so we almost won overall. One of the ladies on our team is super fast but before yesterday the first she'd raced was a half marathon so she did absolutely amazing to do 7 laps. Whilst I was the slowest on the team I'm happy that I was consistent and kept going at the same pace for the full event.

Most of the men on the second placed team took it well although two of them really weren't happy :) All's fair in love and war ;)
